9/23/17

Whole 30 2/30 complete starting Day 3
Swam for two days and today I have PT with Tom. Like yesterday I will walk with Dave this afternoon at the community center.

Clean downstairs
Stretch
Power electronics
Vision
massage

Want to get my desk in order for studying!

I might lay down when I get back from PT. I didn't sleep well last night. Take it one day at a time. I still have 6 days left before my Biometric screening. The best I can do is live healthy until then

Day 7

Okay it's the 7th day and I lost another 2 lbs. which is great. That will help motivate me to at least get through today.

I will say that I feel better than I did before I started. Also, my husband went and picked up fruit for me yesterday so I think I will be fin today.

Now if only I can figure out how to balance work and workout. But for now I will accept the victory of succeeding with the nutrition plus the 10,000 step per day.

Journey

Day 1: Biking to school
Day 2: Fitbit
Week 3: Couch to 5k

Starting weight 240 lbs.

First day biking and it was rough. Had to walk the bike up part of the way of some of the hills; because Atlanta has hills. I know it'll get easier ... better. But still it's hard to want to do it again.

Also, because I biked instead of walked to campus it means I am going to have to get my 10,000 steps in some other way today. This isn't a bad thing, though I am considering going swimming with the TriClub later today but I don't think I have time to do that and study for finals today.

Finally, I have got the fitbit I got for Christmas a few years back working. I'm looking forwarded to seeing how well it helps with my fitness journey. I like that it will let me track all of my activity throughout the day.

The nutrition is the most difficult part.

Okay, this has been an interesting week for me. Last week was rough with two midterm exams plus the preliminary exam. The stress and change in lifestyle has lead to me going from 214lbs to 239lbs. Needless to say I have decided this trend can't continue.

Last week I "ran" a full mile, seven laps in the gym track. This Thursday night I went for a "run", four laps of the outdoor track. I had thought that the track was .25 mile per lap so I used the fact that I had already done one mile to keep going. Turns out that the track is (1/3) mile per lap so for a new personal best I "ran" 1.3 miles. Then cooled down for another .3 miles.

It's amazing how much is a mental game when it comes to working out when overweight. I started the first lap and was feeling pain in my back, feet, and knee. So I adjusted my form to workout other (appropriate) muscle. engaging my abs and using my gluts. But I still didn't think I would make running past the first lap, but then I told myself that the only way I would get better is to do it. Also, reminding myself that I want to change. What's one more, lets just finish this lap. Then, just start the next one. Once the next lap is in progress then I tell myself, just finish this lap. I keep that up as well as enjoy the feeling of the fat burning, that's what I tell myself when I feel the pain start, the pain is my muscles getting stronger, the fat burning. That way the pain becomes a good thing. To a point of course.

*When I say run, it's really a slow jog but given that my heart rate gets up to over 150 bpm I consider it a run for me.

In bike related news, I am purchasing a fixer upper on campus. This means that I am going to need to fix the bike myself but as a result it will only cost $40.

This is weightwatchers day 2 for nutrition.

Trying to take it a day at a time. Focus on filling in the weightwatchers today and meeting my triclub compatriots.

Yes, I have joined a triathlon training club. No I haven't signed up for any races. I signed up for the combination of social and physical activities. Plus it will serve as training for the corporate challenge.

The current goal is to lose on average 2 lbs per week until my trip back to LA which is in about 5 months. That will have me down about 40 lbs by the time I go back for a visit.

So that is the update!

NaNoWriMo in July

I realize I don't post very often but here we go.

Taking my 2006 NaNoWriMo novel I am rewriting it and hopefully improving it, I am going to try to write 10,000 words per day on the weekends and at least 1,000 words per day during the week.

I really love this story and I am hoping to clean it up and maybe even publish it.

The story of a woman whose life isn't what she planned it to be and is whisked away to another world which unbeknownst to her she is responsible for the entire world and it's safety. It's a coming to self story with action, adventure, fantasy, magic, new world, and new creatures.

*crosses fingers*

EDIT: After living in the real world for a week I have realized that a more realistic goal is to write a chapter a week (aka, on the weekends) trying to write during the week is just not feasible.

Bored in Kansas City

The problem with being a morning person is that on weekends when I wake up I spend hours completely bored because no one I know wakes up before noon on the weekends. I'm sick of sitting at home watching TV on Saturday and/or Sunday mornings. I am sick of being alone on Saturday/Sunday mornings. I'm not looking to join some expensive workout club I just want to find people to hang out with.

Gotta Love Endorphins

I've started riding my bike to work (when weather and schedule permits) and it feels great!! In fact myu body actively misses it when I'm unable to ride to work.

Also, Why do I keep eating food that is bad for me even though I feel terrible everytime that I do?

Okay, back to my GREAT!! Job.

Chat with everyone later.

Day 8- New Plan

I managed to make one of my goals, I worked out seven days in a row for 1 hour a day. I'm alittle scared to get on the scale tonight because I don't know what it's going to say. I am terrified that I've gained weight, especially after indulging in the twix, cookies, and brownies yesterday. My net calorie intake was negative but still I am hoping that I have the resolve to do better than that today. At least I don't have to worrie about the twix, that was a craving last night.

Now I may or may not take today off of working out both because it's my birthday (which is why I am considering that if I do workout I will only do half of the workout). And because I have a full day of training followed by traveling. But I suppose that time will tell. I really want to lose weight it just always seems impossible. I suppose all I can do is take it one decision at a time and I will post later tonight or tomorrow morning with an update.

Rage

Rage against ATT.

I can't wait for November so I can leave ATT for good. I am so sick of argueing with them over their misbilling.

Any suggestions regarding Sprint vs Verizon Wireless would be helpful.

Hello All

Hello Everyone. I have missed you all very much and at somepoint I might actually be able to catch up on my flist. Despite winter break I am still busy as I have picked up more hours at my internship hence I've still been non-existant on LJ. I will try to remedy this but I don't know when that will happen. Next quarter is going to be even more difficult then this one. Though the sacrifice of Milliways paid off. I have straight A's this quarter.

Nothing much else is going on with me. My life is all about School, interning, workingout, and trying to spend time with lightbane_v1.

Calories in Sushi

Sorry about spamming your flist with posts today.

I love sushi.. really really love sushi and I was wondering how many calories were in various rolls so I did a search and found the sight below. This is meant for my records but I am leaving it open to all for anyone that is interested.

It's so sad. Yet again it's that time of year, NANOWRIMO, and I can't sign up because of school. Damn having priorities.

Good Luck to everyone on my FLIST and even those not on my F-List that are participating.

Status of 'thief

Hello All.

Went to Vegas last weekend and played in two poker tournies at the hotel which was really fun. Now school starts again. This quarter I am terrified about one of my classes because it's a computer class and I haven't had the prerequisite course which for once seems like a big deal. Fortunately this class and the prereq use the same book so I am trying to learn the prereq information while in this course which will make next quarter when I take the prereq much much easier (possibly boring). In fact I may look at getting the prereq removed from the list if I do well enough in this class. We will see. There will be much hard work to come which of course means that I will be rather scarce on LJ (sadly including Milliways)

And that is the status of 'thief

Annoyance

Why is it that the man just can't listen? He keeps wanting me to magically change reality to suit what he wants/need. Example (see e-mail cut below)

Syntax error, yep that was the most recent problem with the code that I have been writing. Fortunately I didn't lose any sleep over this one. Tonight when I get home I will attempt to compile my program after the error is corrected and hopefully the program will work properly. I would rush home now to work on it but I have a meeting in about 2 hours.

I haven't talked much about this program but I have been working on it for the last month (with the TA's who have been training me) so it feels great to be so close.

Also I have signed up for a seminar next week in Pasadena, "Embedded Design Using LabVIEW Real-Time & FPGA Hands-On Seminar." It is complimetary (I think they started including this information to increase attendance because before I could never find a price for attending so I wouldn't.

My Weekend was far less productive but much more fun then I thought it would be. I didn't go to Dargon Con but I did go to a smaller gaming convention called Strategicon. I went a 72 hour period of time on 3 hours of sleep...I just don't do that, really I don't, but I did, it's crazy!!! And it was fun. Strangeley enough my mind was still firing on the same number of pins as it usually does but my muscles were very fatigued. It is likely to take me days to recover from it as I sit here ready to fall asleep at any moment.

Also, in some bad news, I accidently erased all of the songs that were on my ipod shuffle. The problem is that they were the ones that were from a computer that I no longer have and it contained songs I put on it from CDs that I owned but were stolen which means that I am going to have to buy the albums all over again. How did this happen? My laptop has a feature where if you tap the pad twice you are effectively clicking and I accidently clicked on the middle option, so I don't actually know what it does but I think it deletes the songs that are on there. This is very sad.
